Henry Turns 2 weeks

A couple of days after Henry was released from the hospital, we went to the doctor.  She was concerned because he hadn't been gaining weight like he was supposed to.  We redoubled our efforts to get him to eat better and when we went in again, he had gained 5 ounces in 5 days!  At two weeks, our little boy is 7 pounds 8 ounces and 20 inches.

These two pictures really illustrate the difference between Olivia and Henry.  Yes, this outfit is on the girly side, but it's the most boyish tiny newborn outfit we have that Olivia wore, so it serves a purpose.  Olivia is four days old in the top picture, Henry is two weeks old in the bottom picture.  (And yes, he is laying on Olivia's pink blanket; deal with it!)  The outfit is tight on Olivia, and quite short, it fits Henry quite well, though is a little bit baggy on his skinny little frame.

Also, remember how we had to keep gloves on Olivia constantly to keep her from scratching her face off?  Henry never had this problem.  In fact, we've never put gloves on him and the only scratches he does have on his head are from when we failed to stop Olivia's scratching hands fast enough.

Henry is a sweet boy with a great disposition.  He's sleeping quite well at nights, just getting up once or twice to eat.  He is currently sleeping in with us (and the dogs) in our room in his bassinet  -- poor Olivia is all alone in the nursery.

He gets a funny cross-eyed look and we call him 'Governor Patterson' as in the legally blind governor of New York.  We never get tired of jokes equating the contents of his diaper and New Jersey.

We took him with us this week to the temple to watch Olivia be sealed to us.  He was a good sport and slept most of the time.  At one point however, he had to express his satisfaction with the proceedings by letting out a giant belch.

It was a beautiful moment to stand in the temple in front of the infinity mirrors dressed in white and look at our beautiful family of four.  We are blessed to have such precious and adorable babies and we look forward to every incredible day with them.  (Even if they are a huge handful at times!)

Finally, his cord finally fell off after nearly four weeks!  He was quite ready for a real bath at this point, we were jiggling that thing like crazy at every diaper change.

Welcome: Henry Carter Fawson

Henry Carter Fawson (the Carter comes from his Uncle Carter, Bob's brother) was born on March 18, 2011 after a long and arduous labor!  He weighed 6 pounds 10 ounces and was 19.5 inches long.

After an arduous 46-hour labor with several complications, Henry was finally born!

Just moments after birth, he cuddles with his daddy.

After his initial check-up, he was measuring quite cold and his blood sugar levels were extremely low.  Later it was determined, that he had an infection and needed to go to the NICU right away.  This was his new home.  Can you see his little head tucked in there?

Bob spent his time with Cassandra in her hospital room and then with Henry in his.  A little while later, Cassandra was able to visit as well!

Finally, Cassandra got discharged and was able to go home, but Henry was still stuck in the hospital!  We visited him often, and told his sister Olivia all about him.

A week after he was born, we were able to finally take him home!  Here he is on his first car ride.  We drove quickly away from that hospital so the doctors and nurses couldn't change their mind and keep him there for longer!

Here's Henry meeting his big sister Olivia for the first time.  She has a good hold on his fingers!  We're sure this isn't the last time we'll have to keep her from hurting him!  Though we're sure he'll reciprocate plenty when he gets a bit older.

The first picture of our family all together!

It's bizarre how different he is from Olivia already.  And not just because he'll pee across the room if you leave his diaper off for a moment!  He is a super chill baby.  He isn't very demanding and is content just to be around you.

He has an incredibly strong neck and from the moment he was born, he's been attempting to hold his head up on his own, and succeeding some of the time.

Before he got too big, Nana wanted to do a newborn photoshoot with him.  We all looked at her like she was crazy while she was doing the set up, but then we saw the results.

Nana can come and do crazy photoshoots whenever she wants!
